Individual Therapy
The aim of individual therapy is to help you feel better by exploring and understanding yourself. I can help you replace unhealthy coping strategies and increase self-awareness and acceptance. Ultimately the goal is for you to feel more satisfied in life and have an overall sense of well-being.
Through insight-oriented therapy (also known as psychodynamic or psychoanalytic therapy), together we will identify what motivates your behavior and understand why you do what you do. I offer tools that help you cope with a variety of life’s challenges, like relationship issues, anger management, stress, depression, anxiety, etc. Therapy sessions last 50 minutes. Some clients remain in therapy for many weeks. Others continue for many years. The length depends on what you deem to be helpful.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy is especially useful when you and your partner can’t get through to each other. Perhaps you are experiencing a major life change (pregnancy, college bound children, job loss, breach of trust, etc.) that is affecting your relationship and making it difficult to communicate your needs to your partner.
In couples therapy, you may learn:
- Effective communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Conflict resolution
- Frustration tolerance
- Increased intimacy and/or sex
